Translations: If you want to translate from one language to another or if you want to find the meaning of a foreign word or phrase, click TRANSLATIONS.
Etymologies: If you want to know the origin of a word or phrase, click on ETYMONLINE.COM or ETYMOLOGIES.
English Grammar and Style: If you want to know if something is grammatically correct, know the meaning of a word or a style question, click ENGLISH STYLE AND GRAMMAR.
Homework: We do not do people's homework for them. If you are having trouble with a Linguistics homework question, please give us an idea of the context of your question: why you are asking, and what you have already read, and what specifically you do not understand about the question.

Furthermore, the Ask A Linguist panel is made up of unpaid volunteers. Without contextual information, we do not have the resources to address every question we receive about homework, examinations, or theses.
